We partner to establish both personal and career-focused SMART goals. We also partner to complete a personal SWOT Analysis as well as completing an Assessment (i.e., 360, etc.) to determine Strengths, Weaknesses (Areas of Improvements). Opportunities, Threats (Obstacles) as well as additional feedback from leadership, managers, cross-functional partners, colleagues/peers, and direct reports. We work together to create a professional roadmap/plan so that clear actions are identified that will result in goals being achieved. Another area of focus is prioritization of objectives, managing distractions, and establishing personal and professional boundaries. It is critical to celebrate breakthroughs, wins, and accomplishments while evaluating results!
"I was fortunate to work with Wanda during my transition from IT manager to Sr. manager. Her assessments and direction were invaluable in preparing me to take on my new responsibilities including cultivating a new organization from what had been four independent teams and assuming the role of internal technical consultant for business executives.
Within the first few days of my engagement with Wanda she guided me through exercises and reflective discussions to hone in on the most urgent areas of my development: Executive Presence, Building a New Team, and Becoming a Manager of Managers. Wanda immediately began a phased approach for delivering educational material and practical activities via themed Toolkits. Each week we met to discuss my progress – and stumbles – delivered invaluable constructive feedback, and sketched out my assignment for the following week. This process allowed me to move as quickly as possible, while accommodating the evolving workload of my new position.
By the end of my five months under Wanda’s guidance, I was able to kick-start my new organization with Vision, Mission, and Purpose documents, as well set a cadence for team building activities. I also made notable strides in representing myself with increased Executive Presence and began the transition of Managing Managers vs individual contributors.
At the end of our tenure, with an understanding that my Sr. Manager journey was just beginning, Wanda worked with me on a 30-60-90 day plan to support my growth through the next several months.
